GameShark for Nintendo DS: Won't Break Your DS, But Risks Exist

GameShark (Action Replay) for DS will not physically break your DS. It's a DS cartridge with software — no hardware modification.

How It Works

Insert GameShark cart → Boot → Code Menu → Select game → Enable codes → Eject GameShark → Insert Game Cart → Boot game with codes injected into RAM.
Codes modify RAM values (health, money, items) in real-time. No flash memory writes to console.

Update GameShark firmware to latest (v1.71+).
Use verified codes from GameHacking.org or FlagBrew.
Enable one code at a time. Test. Save. Then add next.
Never use "Master Code" + "All Codes On" blindly.
Backup saves via NDS Backup Tool 3DS (homebrew) or Checkpoint (3DS CFW) before cheating.

Install Luma3DS on 3DS/2DS (3ds.hacks.guide).
Play DS games via TWiLight Menu++ (forwarder) or native backward compat.
Cheats: Rosalina Menu (L+Down+Select) → Cheats → Toggle .cht / .ips / .plg.
Save states, screenshots, region-free, 100% safe.

Verdict: GameShark DS won't brick your DS. But it's obsolete, DSi/3DS incompatible, and risky for saves. Use 3DS CFW instead.
