Will Halo Ever Come to PlayStation? (Bungie, Microsoft, Exclusivity)

Almost certainly not. Halo is Microsoft's flagship exclusive franchise—owned, published, and controlled by Xbox Game Studios.

Why It's Locked to Xbox/PC

  • Platform Seller: Halo drives Xbox hardware, Game Pass subscriptions, and Windows Store engagement.
  • Ownership: Bungie created it (2001–2010), but Microsoft owns the IP. 343 Industries (Microsoft studio) now develops it.
  • Bungie's Independence: Bungie left Microsoft in 2007, retained no Halo rights. They made Destiny (multi-platform, published by Activision, now self-published/Sony-owned since 2022).
  • Contractual Exclusivity: Perpetual first-party clause; no sunset provision known.

Where You Can Play Halo

  • Xbox Series X|S / Xbox One / Xbox 360 / Original Xbox (backward compatible).
  • PC (Windows): Steam, Microsoft Store, Xbox App — Halo Infinite, MCC, Halo Wars 2.
  • Cloud: Xbox Cloud Gaming (Game Pass Ultimate) → phone, tablet, browser, TV, Meta Quest.

Historical Near-Miss

Halo: Combat Evolved was originally a Mac/PC game (1999 Macworld demo). Microsoft bought Bungie in 2000, made it Xbox launch exclusive. A PS2 port was prototyped but cancelled.

Bottom line: Buy an Xbox, build a PC, or stream via Cloud. PlayStation will not get Halo.
