Playing PS1 and PS2 Games on PS3

You cannot play all PS1/PS2 games natively on PS3 due to hardware limitations.

What Works:

• PS2 Backward Compatibility: Only early “Fat” PS3 models (with Emotion Engine chip) play many PS2 discs. Not all titles work.
• PSN Downloads: Select PS1/PS2 Classics available for purchase/download on PSN.
• Emulation (Homebrew): PS1/PS2 emulators exist for hacked PS3s, but compatibility varies and legality is questionable without owning originals.

Check compatibility lists online. Respect copyright—only emulate games you own.
