Video game "manufacturing" is a global, multi-stage pipeline:

1. Development (Software)

  • Code/Design/Art: Studios worldwide: US (CA, TX, WA), Canada (Montreal, Vancouver), Japan (Tokyo, Osaka), Europe (UK, Sweden, Poland, France), Korea, China.
  • Outsourcing: Art (Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam), QA (Eastern Europe, SEA), Localization (per region).

2. Physical Manufacturing (Hardware & Media)

  • Discs (Blu-ray/DVD): Pressed in Japan (Sony DADC), Austria, USA, Mexico, Brazil, India, China.
  • Cartridges (Switch/3DS/DS): Japan (Macronix, Nintendo), Taiwan.
  • Consoles: Assembled in China (Foxconn, Pegatron), Japan (some PS), Malaysia, Brazil (local tax avoidance).
  • PCBs/Chips: TSMC (Taiwan), Samsung (Korea), Intel (US/Israel/Ireland) for CPUs/GPUs; memory (Korea/US/Japan).

3. Assembly & Distribution

  • Regional distribution centers (US: CA/TN/GA; EU: Netherlands/UK; Asia: HK/SG).
  • Retail / Digital delivery (CDN: Akamai, Cloudflare, Steam pipes).

No single "factory." It's a supply chain spanning 20+ countries.
