What Are the Best and Worst Video Games? Subjectivity Is the Only Answer

No universal "best" or "worst" exists — taste is entirely personal.

What Shapes Preference

• Genre affinity: FPS, RPG, Strategy, Puzzle, Sim, Sports, Horror, Metroidvania.
• Gameplay loop: Moment-to-moment action vs. long-term planning vs. narrative absorption.
• Story weight: Cinematic narrative (Last of Us) vs. environmental (Dark Souls) vs. emergent (RimWorld) vs. none (Tetris).
• Aesthetic: Photorealism, pixel art, cel-shade, low-poly, vector, ASCII.
• Personal history: Nostalgia, formative titles, emotional associations.

How to Find *Your* Best Games

• Identify 3 favorite genres + 3 dealbreaker mechanics.
• Read reviewers whose taste aligns (check their past scores).
• Watch 30-min raw gameplay (no commentary) before buying.
• Play demos / free weekends / Xbox Game Pass / PS Plus trials.
• Ask communities: "I loved X, Y, Z — what's next?"

The best game is the one that resonates with **you** right now.
