PS3 Controller Without Vibration: Options

Every official DualShock 3 and Sixaxis controller has a built-in rumble motor; you cannot buy a first-party PS3 controller without vibration.

Workarounds

• Disable in System Settings: Settings → Accessories → Controller Vibration → Off. Disables rumble globally for all games.
• Per-Game Settings: Most PS3 titles have a "Vibration" toggle in their Options menu.
• Third-Party Controllers: Some licensed (HORI, Mad Catz) or unlicensed pads omit rumble to cut cost/weight. Check product specs before buying.
• Physical Removal (Advanced): Opening the controller and desoldering/removing the motor voids warranty and risks damage. Not recommended.

Note on Sixaxis

The launch-era Sixaxis (no rumble) was replaced by DualShock 3 in 2008. Used Sixaxis units exist but lack vibration and have inferior triggers/analog sticks.
