How to Properly Turn Off a PS3: Standby vs. Full Shutdown

Short press (tap) = Standby (red LED). System stays powered for background downloads, controller charging, quick resume.

Full Shutdown:

1. Press and hold the front power touch-button.
2. Wait for two beeps (≈5 seconds) → power light blinks red.
3. Release. System powers off completely (no LED).

Why Full Shutdown Matters:

• Clears RAM, stops background processes.
• Required before unplugging / moving console.
• Prevents filesystem corruption from sudden power loss.

Note: If frozen, hold 10+ seconds for forced hard-off (risk of data loss). Use only as last resort.
