Internet Required to Download GTA 5 on PS4?

Yes, mandatory.

• Digital Purchase (PS Store): 90–110 GB download — requires broadband.
• Physical Disc: Still requires ~50 GB day-one patch + subsequent updates (total 100+ GB) to play. Disc only holds base assets; license check + patches need PSN.
• Online Play (GTA Online): Requires PlayStation Plus subscription + persistent connection.
• Offline Story Mode: Playable after full install + patches, but initial setup needs internet.

Data Considerations

• Cap-exempt? Most ISPs count it. Schedule overnight.
• Wired Ethernet strongly recommended — Wi-Fi drops corrupt large installs.
• Rest Mode download: Settings → Power Save → "Stay Connected to Internet" + "Enable Turning On PS4 from Network."

No internet = no GTA V on PS4.
