• Later Slim/Super Slim Bundles: Many holiday/value bundles (especially post-2013) omitted the HDMI cable to cut costs.
• Retailer-Exclusive Bundles: GameStop, Best Buy, etc., sometimes swapped cables or added their own.
• Used/Refurbished Units: Cables are often missing or substituted.

How to Know for Sure

1. Check the original box contents list (printed on side flap).
2. Read the product description if buying new/sealed online.
3. Ask the seller explicitly: "Does this include an HDMI (or AV) cable?"

If It's Missing

HDMI cables are ubiquitous and cheap ($5–$10 for a certified 4K/60Hz cable). AV cables are also inexpensive but harder to find in stores—check eBay or retro shops. Any standard HDMI cable works perfectly with PS3.
