Price of a Gold PS3

Sony never released an official “Gold” PlayStation 3. Any gold PS3 you see is a custom paint job, a vinyl wrap, or a one-off promotional unit (extremely rare).

What Determines the Price

• Base model: Fat (CECHA–CECHK), Slim (CECH-20xx/21xx/25xx), or Super Slim (CECH-40xx/42xx/43xx).
• Paint/wrap quality: Professional automotive paint > spray can > vinyl wrap.
• Condition: Working, YLOD history, disc-drive health, controller included.
• Accessories: Original box, cables, backward-compatible fat models command a premium.

How to Find Current Market Value

1. Search eBay “Sold” listings for “gold PS3,” “custom PS3,” “painted PS3.”
2. Check Facebook Marketplace / Craigslist / OfferUp for local deals.
3. For rare limited editions (e.g., Gold PlayStation 3 250 GB – Japan Expo 2010), consult PriceCharting or retro auction houses.

Be wary of “gold” listings that are just yellowed white consoles. Verify with photos of the serial sticker.
